Notifications not working

For the last dozen or so notifications (maybe more) when I click on them to open the app, the app will not open correctly. The notification leads to the app opening and I'm met with a gray screen that no matter how long I leave alone it does not load and so I cannot view the content the notification is advertising in the app.
