Not Counting Songs From Spotify Playlists?

I’ve noticed that songs played within a Spotify-created playlist (not a custom one for the user, but playlists like “top pop” or similar) don’t seem to be counted toward streams? For example, there was a several month period where I listened to only a Spotify-created playlist for pop punk, and none of those songs were ever listed on my “top songs in the last four weeks”. Is there a reason for this?
