Apple minutes inaccurate

Whenever I am listening to music on my Apple account no matter if I listen to the song or not the entire length of the song is added. For example if I skip a song it sometimes counts it as listened and adds it. I have had days where I have over 300 minutes in a single hour. Would also like to mention the “now listening” doesn’t work with Apple.
