Why are streaming stats delayed?

I’ve tested all the streaming stat apps and stats.fm is undoubtedly the most pretty, but it’s frustrating that there is a long delay before streams are actually recorded. I also have Song Stats installed and that updates my playing stats the moment a track finishes… why are “live” stats not possible/already happening with stats.fm?
