Smarter Top Albums

The top albums and top songs tabs are too similar.

Problem: When I look at my top albums for a given time I don’t get any insight about what my actual “top/favourite” albums are because all the app shows is play counts for all the songs in the album. The challenge with this is most often those high play counts are for one or two songs/singles while the rest of the songs in the album might barely have any plays.

Solution: It would be really cool to have a more sophisticated formula that accounts for how much of the whole album you listen to and enjoy.

Formula: For example,

(Avg. play count for album)/(standard deviation of album play count + 1) * number of songs in the album.
