Hello Stats.fm team,
I’m a long-time YouTube Music user who recently moved to Spotify and started using Stats.fm Plus.
I love the app, but there’s one major problem many users like me are facing:
🎧 Our entire listening history from YouTube Music is stuck there and can’t be imported to Stats.fm.
YouTube Music has millions of active users and a large portion of them eventually migrate to Spotify or Apple Music, especially for Wrapped-style features. This makes Stats.fm the ideal place to centralize listening stats — but without YT Music import support, years of data become unusable.
📌 Why this feature matters:
Huge audience demand: On Reddit, Discord, and feedback pages, many users ask for YT Music support.
Technical feasibility: Google Takeout already provides full listening history (JSON with timestamps), so import is possible without requiring official YT Music API integration.
Value for Plus users: People with long listening histories are more likely to subscribe to Stats.fm if they can bring their data with them.
Competitive advantage: No other major stats app properly supports importing YT Music history. Stats.fm would become the first reliable platform to do this.
📁 Proposed implementation:
Allow importing Google Takeout “YouTube + YouTube Music History” JSON files
Parse: videoTitle, artists, videoId, titleUrl, time (timestamp)
Match with Spotify/Apple Music catalog using name matching
Mark unmatched items for manual correction
Even a basic beta importer would be extremely helpful.
As a Plus subscriber, I would absolutely love — and gladly use — this feature.
Thank you for considering it!
