First of all, the majority my top artists are the orchestras/conductors/soloists instead of the composers. In classical music, pieces of music are written by composers and performed by orchestras. This can cause problems like, for example, I could listen to 2 pieces composed 300 years apart with wildly different styles, but both performed by the Berlin Philharmonic. I would have listened to, for example, Bach and Shostakovich one time each, but I would have listened to the Berlin Phil twice, which doesn’t give me accurate information. I think there should be a way to hide certain artists like orchestras and conductors from the top listened artists.
Another issue is that pieces are often split into different tracks depending on the recording. For example, one recording of Mahler’s second symphony could be 42 tracks, but another could only be 5, despite the whole performance being around one and a half hours. For example, last April I listened to all of Haydn’s symphonies, which adds up to over 400 tracks. As a result, Haydn is now one of my top artists despite being a tiny fraction of my listening. I think there should be an option to sort by listing time instead of number of streams.
